On the STEM Interest, Skill Conffdence of the 21st-Century, STEM Career Orientation of the Students in Primary and Secondary Schools: Taking China as an Exampl

Abstract:The authors studied 258 primary school students and 317 junior high school students regarding their STEM interests, skill confidence of 21st-century, and STEM career orientations in China. The results showed that the above three aspects of junior high school students were significantly lower than the ones of primary school students; The highest educational level of guardians had a great inffuence on the scientiffc interest of junior high school students, but not that of primary school students; Primary school students with different grades or different guardian’s highest education levels did not show signiffcant differences in maths interest, while for junior high school students, those with different grades showed significant differences in maths interests, and those with different highest education levels of guardians showed no signiffcant differences in maths interests.
