Image Edge Detection Algorithm Based on FPGA and MATLAB

Abstract:With the development of intelligent network technology, image edge detection is an important research ffeld in feature extraction. Sobel edge detection is a simple and effective image edge detection algorithm. In this paper, the edge detection algorithm is simulated by FPGA and MATLAB, and the results are verified. Firstly, the algorithm is processed by a gray transform and a parallel three-step median fflter, and then the algorithm is realized by MODELSIM and MATLAB and verified by simulation. Finally, the Testbench simulation platform was established to verify the consistency of simulation results between MODELSIM and MATLAB. The experimental results show that the Sobel edge detection simulation based on FPGA and MATLAB achieves the expected effect.
