Abstract:For many years, the research on Richard Rorty has focused on his philosophical thoughts.
Additionally, the interpretation of his view on literature has only been scattered in his papers and
lectures, so the research on Rortys literary theory still needs to be enriched. Rortys literary
theory reflects a kind of pan-literary culture, which mainly includes three aspects: literary
culture, the essence of literature and text interpretation. Rorty established a highly inclusive
literary culture based on imagination and equality, pointed out that literature has no essence,
advocated that text interpretation should not be limited by the authors intention and should be
equivalent to the use of text. Rortys pan-literary theory has enlightening function and practical
significance for solving some problems in current education.
