Abstract:The development of air transport can promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater
Bay Area faster and better. However, air transport cannot be separated from the construction of airports. The seven
airports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area constitute an airport cluster. The paper aims to
evaluate the competitiveness of airport clusters and find out the factors that affect the development of airports.
Firstly, the competitiveness evaluation index system of the six major airports was established by referring to the
domestic and foreign airport competitiveness evaluation indexes and combining with the actual situation of the
Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Then, data were obtained through literature collection and field
investigation, and factor analysis method was used to find out the three main factors affecting the competitiveness
of the airport. Finally, the comprehensive score of comprehensive competitiveness was obtained through
calculation. The results showed that the comprehensive competitiveness ranking of the six major airports was
basically consistent with the facts. At the end of the paper, it put forward some countermeasures and suggestions
for airport construction based on the actual situation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
