Abstract:Rock-color painting, originated from the ancient Chinese cave paintings represented by Dunhuang murals, is a dazzling pearl in the history of Chinese art and even in the history of world art. Drawn with mineral pigments, this kind of painting went downhill and failed to be handed down in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This article brings the rock-color painting back to public, because its compact texture and gorgeous colors, as well as the distinctive drawing method are of great significance to promote the unique traditional Chinese culture.
